Last Saturday, Steve hung up the phone with my dad and said, "Your Dad is Awesome!". How about that! That is not something you hear every day.
Being married, I know that many married couples don't always get along with their in-laws. I consider myself very lucky because we don't have that problem - we both like our in-laws. In fact, Steve and my dad get along wonderfully, because they have so many similar interests.
So why is my dad so awesome? Well, for starters, he called to ask Steve how he was doing fixing the sprinklers (answer: not good). My dad then informed him that he would come over after work on Monday to help him. On Monday, in a short amount of time, my Dad had shown Steve how to fix the problem (something he had been trying to figure out for hours/days). And the sprinklers now work!!!
The other reason he is so awesome is that the week before, he helped Steve replace the compressor in our Infinity and check the breaks. Not only did he give up his day off to help, but he took the time out to show Steve how to do it (since Steve wanted to be the one to fix the car).
Now if my dad reads this, he will probably be saying that he is not so special. But that is another great thing about him - he is so humble about all that he does. He is always willing to help others and give of his time, and even when he admits to me that he doesn't think he knows that much, I believe that he has this great capacity for reason and learning - which helps him pick up things quickly and figure things out logically, just by studying it for a little bit - that is something not everyone has.
So yes, my dad is awesome and I want everyone to know it. Love you Dad.
