Cookie Experiment

The other day I saw an idea for making cookies on Rachel Ray. The idea was to cook your cookies on an electric skillet instead of baking them in the oven. This would be perfect for a hot summer day, when you want cookies, but not the heat in your house. So when you put them on the skillet you cook one side, then flip them over to cook the other side (like a cookie pancake). So Steve was really intrigued by this so we bought some cookie dough and tried it and here are the results. The first few we burned, because we had the setting too high (we started on level 2, but it seemed they weren't cooking and we were impatient so we turned it up to 3 and in just a few minutes, we had burned, mushy cookies). So we turned the temp back down to low - med/low (about a 2 on the skillet). The cook time was longer (Steve was doing the cooking so I don't know how long each side), but it worked. We got nice looking cookies (that look like mini chocolate chip pancakes). But they are chewy and still taste like cookies. And best of all - the kitchen stayed cool!

First attempt - burnt cookies

Steve finally got the hang of "grilling" the cookies

Yummy Cookies!!
